Augustin I Iturbide gold 8 Escudos 1822 Mo-JM AU Details (Mount Removed) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM313.2, Fr-59. A one-year issue from the short-lived empire, this charming example, unfortunately once utilized as a jewelry piece, exhibits the characteristic central striking weakness and some scattered marks and hairlines. The color, however, is overall very pleasing and the portrait still conveys a vibrant countenance of Iturbide. An exceptional specimen from a highly tumultuous period of Mexican history.
