Republic silver Pattern 10 Reales 1864 AU55 NGC, KM-Pn11. Coarse reeded edge variety. An exceedingly rare silver pattern, featuring a fairly crude strike but little actual wear or contact. A distinctive die crack extends through most of the reverse behind the lion, but only further demonstrates the conditions under which this obscure series was produced. The first of this type which we have offered, and the first which this cataloger could locate to cross the auction block in recent memory. Serving as the plate coin in NGC's online world coin price guide, it goes without saying that this is the sole example which they have graded. A crowning piece for the collector of interesting Latin American rarities.
