Ancients
SICULO-PUNIC. Lilybaeum ("Cape of Melqart"). Ca. 330-305 BC. AR tetradrachm (26nnm 16.37 gm, 8h). ANACS AU 50. Head of Persephone left, wearing barley grain wreath, triple-pendant earring, and necklace; two dolphins nose-to-nose to left, a third barely visible to right  / Horse standing right before palm tree, foreleg raised, Punic Λ ('ayin) and υ (gimel) flanking tree trunk. HGC 2, 747 (R3). Jenkins, Punic 73 (O26/R55). Extremely rare, very likely the finest of five known specimens.

From the Northern California Collection. Acquired from Freeman & Sear, 2002.

Jenkins cites two only specimens, one in the Thorwaldsen museum in Copenhagen and another in a private collection. One other specimen was offered in Triton XI (2008), and another in Pecunum / Numismatik Naumann 24 (2104), both decidedly inferior to this lovely AU example.
