Carolingian. Pepin the Short (754/5-768) Denier ND XF, Paris mint, 0.98g, MG-35, Dup-756. RP with bar above and a trefoil of pellets / Cross ancrée. An outstanding survivor of this elusive palace issue. The strike is excellent and there is minimal circulation wear, although some mild environmental damage is noted. Protected areas along the edges of the devices reveal hints of residual luster. Very rare.
