Philippe VI (1328-1350) gold Ange d'or ND MS62 NGC, 3rd emission, from 26 June 1342, 5.81g, Fr-273, Dup-255B. x PhILIPPVS : D' | GRA : FRA : RЄX x, crowned St. Michael the Archangel standing facing beneath a gothic portico, his right hand pinning down the Dragon with a cruciform staff and his left supporting the royal arms / + XP'C : VIИCIT : XP'C : RЄGИAT : XP'C : IMPЄRAT, cross fleurée within quadrilobe, lis in angles and crowns in spandrels. Beautifully toned with subtle olive overtones, this lustrous piece is exactingly struck and very well-centered on a broad flan. Rare and highly desirable thus.
