Napoleon III gold Proof 10 Francs 1856-A PR64 NGC, Paris mint, KM784.3. A splendid survivor, and for all intents and purposes, a Gem, complete with golden-amber color that takes on two forms--a thick gloss in the mirrors and a gentle frost atop the devices. Closer inspection reveals incredible highpoint detail that has rendered the leaves crisp on the reverse and the facial features of Napoleon III in sharp fashion, while the surrounding fields are brimming with flash and devoid of any individual marks that require mention. A conditional rarity, as well as scarce in availability, currently the only certified Proof example of this date by NGC, and infinitely worthy of special attention from the collectors of high-grade French gold.
