Saxony. Johann Georg I Goldgulden 1625-HI MS63 NGC, KM87, Fr-2680. 3.21gm. A Mint-State specimen of this scarce issue that features the armored, half-length portrait of the Elector of Saxony, Johann Georg I. The flan is infused with rich, amber color, while the fields retain choice luster and a pleasing freshness--both of significant importance considering its age. The raised designs present an overall boldness, despite some of the more intricate, central detail having been affected by a softer strike. In this highly preserved state, and with an incredible amount of original mint bloom that meanders the surface, one would be hard-pressed to find a nicer example of the type available in the current marketplace.
