British Outpost. George III Proof Ackey 1818 PR66+ NGC, Heaton mint, KM9, Vice-3A. Laureate head of King George III right. Rev. Arms of the Company of Merchants Trading to Africa with native supporters. A remarkable example of this one-year Proof issue. The surfaces are purple, with touches of gold, argent-gray, and blue patina over full luster with fully mirrored fields. The strike is bold, with elevated relief and there are no flaws worthy of mention. This is, by far, the finest Proof example certified by NGC, or PCGS, with the next highest being a Proof 64. We have never seen an example to equal this Superb piece and we doubt one exists.
