Calling this date "scarce" is certainly an understatement; as far as we can tell a 1686 5 guineas has only been offered at auction five times in the last 15 years. Indeed, this is one of just five examples seen by NGC, with none graded by PCGS. With minimal annealing marks, coupled with lovely light red toning that serves to highlight the devices, this coin has exceptional eye appeal.
