Great Britain
Edward VIII nickel-brass Pattern 3 Pence 1937 MS61 NGC, Royal mint, KM849, S-4064B. 6.08gm. By T. H. Paget and Frances Madge Kitchener. A sharp example with Mint-State detailing noted throughout and a planchet that has a light layer of milky tone across the obverse and a satin-like reverse appearance. Rare as a type with seemingly only one similar example appearing at auction over the last decade available for comparison (Baldwin's Auction #48 on 9/26/2006 which sold for $36,005 including the BP). According to Standard Catalog of British Coins, "A small number of these coins were produced for experimental purposes and a few did get into circulation." A scarce survivor in all regards, and sure to immediately pique the interest of collectors looking to procure such a incredible piece of British history.

Edward VIII famously abdicated the throne 10.5 months after succeeding his father, King George V, in favor of marrying American divorcee Wallis Simpson. No official coinage of his was issued for use within the United Kingdom.
