George IV Proof Crown 1826 PR65 NGC, Royal mint, KM699, S-3806. Septimo edge. A top survivor of this highly coveted proof-only crown, bathed in a rich blanket of tone over both sides, with eye-catching cobalt-blue and magenta color mixing into the obverse color palette, while more subtle reddish-golden and faint blue tone accompanies the reverse. Even with the tone, the mirrors retain stunning watery depth, an attribute that often becomes subdued on lower graded examples. When inspected with a loupe, the elusive quality of this piece is further validated, as only the faintest wisps from handling are seen and a couple minor instances of contact likely prevent an even higher grade. All considered, one of the finest specimens we've handling in terms of both technical quality and eye appeal. An absolute collection centerpiece as such.
