Augustin I Iturbide gold 8 Escudos 1822 Mo-JM MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM313.1, Onza-1778. Highly coveted Mint State quality for this short-lived Iturbide issue, possessing the intended fullness of all the peripheral legends and central designs that are better than most, but still exhibit a touch of softness in the "Eagle and Cactus" motif. Very few deep marks appear over the surfaces, however faint handling, as well as a single thin diagonal graze in font of Iturbide's visage, determining the grade. Original semi-prooflike mint luster, perhaps this coin's most outstanding attribute, really sparkles in the fields, and serves to brighten traces of soft copper-gold tone at the rims. Impressive overall, this is without question one of the finest survivors of its kind.
