Augustin I Iturbide gold 8 Escudos 1822 Mo-JM AU55 PCGS, Mexico City mint, KM313.2, Fr-59, Calico Onza-1777. Variety with the obverse legend error AUGSTINUS. Featuring the obverse head of Iturbide right with date below and the emblematic reverse depiction of a crowned eagle atop a cactus. Beautifully lustrous with just a touch of softness noted in the hair detail of Iturbide and the corresponding area on the reverse--a typical occurrence for the type--but without the presence of adjustments. A scarce type, and in a technical level of certification that remains conditionally rare.
