Justin II (AD 565-578). AV semissis (2.23 gm). NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5. Constantinople. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Justin right, seen from front / Victory seated right on shield, inscribing on shield set on knee, reversed staurogram before, star in left field. Sear 352. Although NGC has assigned this coin to the reign of Justin I (Sear 57), based on the delightfully crude style and reversed staurogram we feel this is more likely an issue of Justin II.
