Merovingian. Anonymous Denier ND (c. 670-750). VF. Cabilonnum (Chalon-sur-Saone) mint, 1.25g, Dep-12 (Chalon-sur-Saone), MEC-539, Prou-222. MO, christogram (six-limbed cross) within beaded circle / CA-B'-LO-NO in quarters of cross, pellet in each quarter. MEC attributes a similar piece to moneyer Inportunus, though the entirety of the moneyer's name is off the flan on this example. Slightly different reverse legend. Very appealing sky-blue toning can be seen across the devices on the obverse. A rare, attractive, and intriguing piece.
