Merovingian. Anonymous Denier ND (c. 670-750) Choice AU. Paris mint, 1.19g, MEC-598, Prou-731. VS (horizontal) O, bust with cross-ornamented head covering right / cross ancrée with ends of cross arms turned down, within border broken up by pelleted annulets, pellets in 3 quarters and under right arm of cross. Though much of the obverse legend is obscured by being struck mostly off the flan, the last three letters (the bottom crux of the V just appearing in the bust's line of sight), together with the style of border on the reverse, clearly point to Paris. A very well-struck and well-preserved example of a Merovingian denier. Surely worthy of a prized spot in any collection.
