Dutch Republic silver "de Witt Brothers Assassination" Medal 1672 MS61 PCGS, van Loon-87.4. Expertly engraved and moderately toned, this medal medal was struck after politicians Johan and Cornelis de Witt were lynched at The Hague by rioters, both being held accountable for numerous military defeats in the Rampjaar (or "disaster year") in 1672. The reverse design depicts two vessels on a stormy sea and should appeal greatly to collectors of naval issues.
