COLOMBIA. Estados Unidos de Nueva Granada - Tesorería Jeneral. 1 Peso = 10 Reales, ND (1860s). P-61a. PMG Choice Fine 15 Net.
This is the lowest denomination from this rare series of notes. We believe this and the next two notes are all formerly from the Amon Carter Collection and have a similar character to them (see the Spink America, December 2, 1997 sale). Printed on thin, translucent paper, this causes the few survivors to often be harshly damaged. This note has sharp brown printing, contrasting red seal at the left, and beautiful pen accomplishment. It appears to be on par with the Richard Ward Collection piece that realized $2,070 in June 2017. Noted with ink burn and thinning. However, this is a superior piece with the eye appeal of a higher grade. PMG Choice Fine 15 Net.
