ARGENTINA. 8 Reales, 1826-RA P. NGC EF-45.
KM-20; CJ-28. 6 laurel pairs. VERY RARE variety and sole graded example at either NGC or PCGS. We are unaware of any recent sales records of this variety. According to Hector Carlos Janson who authored the masterpiece "La Moneda Circulante en el Territorio Argentino" published 2011 2nd ed. this variety is the second rarest of all the varieties for this year. By comparison the present example displays a better strike than the Janson plate coin. Well struck with good definition of the sunface which is unusual for this issue and bold reverse design features. Attractive slate grey tone throughout with areas of deeper tone. Overall a handsome piece sure to excite even the most advance of collectors. NGC EF-45.
