ARGENTINA. 8 Reales, 1827-RA P. NGC MS-61.
KM-20; cf.CJ-29.1. 6 laurel pairs. Coin axis. Tied for second finest certified with one other example at NGC and one finer(MS63), none seen at PCGS. VERY RARE especially so in this state of preservation. According to Janson this variety is tied for the rarest variant of the date. On a side note when comparing the plates in Janson the present example does not match the dies for any of the plated examples for 1827, but does match almost exactly with the exception of the date to the one plated for the 1834(CJ-35). Excellent strike with clear definition of the minute details and lovely old envelope tone displaying dove grey throughout with an attractive blue sheen on the obverse. The reverse displays more of a smokey grey with a golden sheen and lovely mottled red, golden and orange tone. An interesting variant with good eye appeal sure to excite the specialist of Argentine numismatics. NGC MS-61.

From the Alex Siegel Collection.

Estimate: $2000.00- $2500.00
