Fr-386; Dupl-1121A. "écu d'or au soleil" struck at the Dijon mint for Henry III with the obverse legend starting at the bottom. Henry III had been elected king of Poland when he received word that his brother, Charles IX, had died. Henry broke down numerous horses riding back to Paris to seize the throne. Highly lustrous and quite good eye appeal. NGC AU-58.
