FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1722-A Paris Mint Louis XV (1715-74). NGC MS-64.
Fr-456; KM-461.1; Gad-337. "louis d'or aux deux L", from a type struck 1720-23 during the John Law period. Single finest certified at either NGC or PCGS. A VERY SCARCE type compared to the "louis d'or aux lunettes" (1726-40). This example is slightly weakly struck from rusted dies but plenty of luster and no adjustment marks. This date is known restruck over older "louis d'or à la croix du Saint-Esprit" but we see no trace of such on this specimen. NGC MS-64.
