GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1740. Freidrich August II (1733-63). NGC AU-55.
Dav-2668; KM-902. Boldly struck and evenly toned with hints of blue when tilted, this example can hold its own against others assigned a higher grade. Plenty of detail with an expressive portrait. A lovely example worthy of a premium bid. Freidrich August II was elector of Saxony and king of Poland. On the death of the emperor Karl VI in 1740, he assumed the office of vicar of the empire until such time as a new emperor could be elected, for which occasion the elector issued this thaler, accompanied by a double thaler (Dav-2667). NGC AU-55.

Estimate: $4000.00- $5000.00
