ITALY. Florence. Florin, ND (Second Semester, 1520). Antonio di Guglieme Pazzi. NGC AU-55.
Fr-276; Bern-II-3833/6; MIR-30/22. This is a "Fiorino d'Oro largo" ("broad florin") introduced about 1422 to supersede the small diameter florin first coined about 1252. This type, marked by the Pazzi arms and the "ANT" monogram on the obverse, was struck from 1510 until the collapse of the republic. The gold florin was intended to compete with the Venetian ducat but is today much scarcer. Well struck with good definition of the fine details, clear full legend and with good eye appeal. Small portion of the top of the fluer de lis is off the flan mentioned for accuracy. A lovely high grade example worthy of a premium bid. NGC AU-55.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
