ITALY. Tuscany. Piastre, 1684. Cosimo III De Medici (1670-1723). NGC MS-62.
Dav-4212; CNI XII-68. Draped bust; Reverse: Saint John baptizing Christ. Struck during the middle of his long 53 year reign, as Cosimo III Medici steered Tuscany into a relentless economic decline. The piece offered here shows little of the extenuating circumstances the once great city-state was in at the time. Exceptionally well preserved with deep old cabinet tone and underlying luster displaying hints of gold, red and blue amongst the devices. RARE in this state of preservation. The sole example at this numeric grade with just one example certified finer (NGC MS-64) at either NGC or PCGS. NGC MS-62.
Estimate: $2000.00- $3000.00
