MEXICO. Pattern 8 Reales Struck in Silver Plated Nickel, 1840-DoOMC. NGC AU-55.
cf.KM-Pn59, BH-Pn48. RARE pattern striking for the Durango Mint. Struck without eagle's breast in full relief which is a common sight on the other examples either silvered bronze or silvered nickel(as the present example) patterns of this type. Edge is also incomplete with about a third of it not having reeding. Attractive with a steely gray appearance and some deep toning forming around devices and in protected areas. No surface issue or detracting marks of handling. NGC AU-55.
