MEXICO. Eleventh International Numismatic Convention "Holey Dollar" Medal Struck in Gold, 1984. PCGS MS-68 Secure Holder.
43 mm; 39.91 gms. Mintage unknown and believed to be unknown struck in gold. As such presumably EXTREMELY RARE and unpublished. Stylized rendition of an 1810 New South Wales "Holey Dollar" on a bust 8 Reales of Mexico City. The obverse inscription has been altered to read "XI CONVENCION NVMISMATICA INTERNACIONAL A. D. 1984 MEXICO". In addition, two "counterstamps" appear on the obverse: SNM (Sociedad Numismatica de Mexico) within a beaded rectangle and an IR monogram within an irregular depression; Reverse: Normal legend found on bust 8 Reales with Assayers letters "F.M.". Immaculate satiny surfaces with just a hint of tone. PCGS MS-68 Secure Holder.
