SCOTLAND. Demy, ND (ca. 1437-51). James II (1437-1460). NGC MS-63.
3.34 gms. S-5217; Fr-10; Burns-fig.798 #2. First coinage. The sole Mint State example graded at NGC with none seen at PCGS. The next finest is AU58. James II took over for his father at the age of 7. He was killed by a misfiring cannon at 29. In between, he and those who represented him during his minority oversaw a chaotic kingdom rife with disputes and jealousies, many centering on the so-called "Black Douglasses." Great centering allowing for full legends, crisp strike details. Bountiful satiny luster present with light attractive tone. NGC MS-63.
Estimate: $4000.00- $5000.00
