SCOTLAND. Dalzell Farm 5 Shillings Countermark, ND (ca. 1820). PCGS VF-20 Secure Holder.
KM-CC22; Manville-20; Brunk-51220. Struck on a French 1810-A 5 Francs (Paris Mint). Even light silver gray with smooth surfaces. Trivial hairlines. Countermark boldly applied in its usual location at central reverse. Napoleon Five Francs are the typical undertype for this mark, all part of a consignment brought from Belgium to this Scottish farm by a soldier named Archibald Hamilton. Pleasing and RARE. Manvile lists 22 specimens, only two of which are recorded of this host date. Countermark grades: EXTREMELY FINE Details; host coin PCGS VF-20 Secure Holder.
