Burgh of Kirkcudbright. King George V Coronation Medal Struck in 18k Gold, 1911. Unsigned. 38 mm; 29.3 gms. Unlisted in Eimer and BHM. Obverse with conjoined crowned busts of King George and Queen Mary, their names and titles around, ribbon inscribed "ANN: DOM / 1911" to the right; Reverse: Shield of the Burgh of Kirkcudbright, a ribbon with the town's name above, another ribbon marked: "WALLACE / PROVOST" extending from the left to the right. In a cartouche below: "TO COMMEMORATE / THE CORONATION OF / HIS MAJESTY / KING GEORGE V. / JUNE 22 1911" - the whole embellished with roses and thistles and enclosed within a wreath of oak and laurel. Hallmarks below indicating metal and fineness, manufacturing location and maker. This piece was struck in London, by Wright & Son, in 1911. Rich yellow gold patina. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
