Dav-1768; KM-98; HMZ-2-339g; Divo-162. RARE in mint state. Intriguing portrait with a castle nestled in Liberty's hair. Reverse legend reads: "Apres Les Tenebres la Lumiere". The phrase came to be adopted as the Calvinist motto, and was subsequently adopted as the motto of the entire Protestant Reformation. It was initially used by John Calvin's adopted city of Geneva on their coins. As a mark of its role in the Calvinist movement, the motto was also engraved on the Reformation Wall in Geneva. Remnants of adjustment marks around edges mentioned for accuracy. Well struck and attractive with deep old cabinet tone. NGC MS-61.
