CANADA. Bank of Acadia. 4 Dollars, 1872. CAD51002. PMG Very Good 08 Net. Large Piece Missing.
Liverpool, Nova Scotia. This is our first offering in quite some time from this very scarce bank. The Bank of Acadia was established in 1872, but closed in less than 120 days making it the quickest bank to close in Canadian History. According to the Charlton Reference, the bank reopened for a few days to re-attempt to redeem some of its notes, but outside of the government, holders of notes not reimbursed by that time were left hanging.
