PUERTO RICO. Banco Espanol de Puerto Rico. 5 Pesos, 1896. P-26a. PMG Very Fine 25.
Printed by ABNC. Series D. This piece is one of the scant few available in issued form for the series and will certainly grab the attention of knowledgeable collectors. The first we have offered in many years and seen with attractive ink tones and detail for the grade. This is the finest graded example on the PMG population report. Queen Regent Maria Cristina pictured at left. Allegorical child pictured at right. This note was printed in with a few different dates, with this November 3rd, 1896 being one of the tougher dates to find. It is much more common to find the note with a "MAYAGUEZ" stamp at center, and exponentially more difficult to find it absent of a stamp or cancellation such as this in tact piece. PMG discloses staple holes in the comments section which is common for the type and ABNC issued Puerto Rico notes of that era. PMG Very Fine 25.
Estimate: $7000.00- $10000.00
