Rev: Neptune standing near center flanked by personifications of the ports of Castets-en-Dorthe and Sete, IVNCTA . MARIA above. In exergue, AGARVMNA AD MONTEM SETIVM / FOSSA PERDVCTA / M.DC. LXXXI. An impressive medal commemorating the completion of a canal connecting the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Seas through the city of Toulouse. Light scratches in obverse field mentioned for accuracy. Choice semi-reflective mahogany finish. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
