NEW ZEALAND. Auckland. Archibald Clark. Penny Token, 1857. NGC MS-63 BN.
Andrews-64; Lampard-310; KM-TN12; Gray-42; Renniks-75. Rarity 4. Seated justice, date in exergue; Reverse: "Shortland Street Auckland" within beaded boarder, "Archibald Clark Draper" around. Well struck with somewhat mottled patina and a lovely blue sheen with hints of original mint red. Quite attractive. Sources state that these are believed to be the first tokens struck for New Zealand. NGC MS-63 BN.
