35.50 mm; 17.77 gms. Basso-150; Honeycutt-310; PNM#12-pg.9 Fig.1. Type I with plain edge. By Clemente Zamora. Japanese soldier in combat gear facing away at center gazing at the hills of Bataan and island of Corregidor in distance with commemorative legend above in Japanese "Commemorating the Expedition of the Philippines Kigen (Japanese year) 2602(1942); Reverse: Two palm trees with fronds at top, four stars at center and filling the fields is a poem paying tribute to comrades who died in the battlefields which Basso and de Jesus both credit General Masaharu Homma with writing. Looped at twelve o'clock. Several edge bumps mentioned for accuracy. Well struck with good definition of the details. Lightly toned with hints of blue and gold when tilted in the light. A nice wholesome example sure to please. VERY FINE.
