Hessler X32 E U.S. 98. No.360 P, XZ and RT. "For interest due on Money borrowed by the United States." Black and red. Issued to William Arnold. "To the Commissioner or Commissioners of the United States of America at Paris." Signed by Francis Hopkinson as Treasurer of Loans and by Jos Clarke, Commissioner of the Continental Loan-Office in the State of Rhode Island. Very Fine details. with the usual petty ink erosion and minor fold splits that is typical on these issues. However, the all important Hopkinson signatures are problem-free and attractive.. . Francis Hopkinson signed the Declaration of Independence as one of the delegates from New Jersey. He is credited with designing the first United States flag, and he was on the committee that designed the Continental Currency.
