Iran: Worldwide unique - proof trial print for a KINGFOM OF IRAN under the bank name "Bank Melli Iran" 100 Rials (AH1313) Note by the Austrian State Printing Works (Wiener Staatsdruckerei) dated about 1930 in a design that was unknown until now. It was used as a proposal for the Iranian Central Bank for the design of a new banknote series that had to be offered in former times. But the designs of the Austrian Printing Works were not adopted and lateron the notes were printed by the American Bank Note Company. Until now it was totally unknown that design trials also had been made by the Austrian printing works. Interesting to remark is that the paper used resembles the paper that was used by the Austrian Printing Works also for the Austria-Hungary and Hungary banknotes of that time. This type of paper was never used for iranian banknotes circulating. This note is printed intaglio on banknote paper uniface, mounted on thick cardboard paper for presentation. On top of the cardboard one can see the symbold of the Austrian State Printing Works and at lower border of the cardboard one can see "Dessin Destiné Pour La Banque Nationale D'Iran, Therean" in golden color. The portrait of Shah Reza in the style of P. 24-30 with military hat, is seperatly printed offset and added by hand (composit essay). Printed in mainly yellow, red and blue color with the specimen serial number A/1 100 - 100.000 this note marks a very rare item of Iranian Banknote history which is now auctioned for the first time ever. The note is part of a heritage of a former designer of the banknote printing works. Unfolded, UNC. Do not miss the chance to get this beautiful item. Highly rare archival piece.
