Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy III Euergetes. 246-222 B.C. AE 17 (17.1 mm, 3.60 g, 11 h). Uncertain mint in southwestern Asia Minor. Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt; to left, tripod. Svoronos 793 (Ptolemy II; Ake-Ptolemaïs); SNG Copenhagen -. gVF. Scarce.

From the Kenneth Miller Collection of Ake-Ptolemaïs and Related Biblical Coins.

Svoronos attributed the tripod series of Ptolemaic bronzes to Ake-Ptolemaïs based on the ΠTO monogram found behind the eagle’s tail on Svoronos 792, a coin which also has the tripod in the field. However, Ashton pointed out that this is an unusual location for a mint monogram, and also that the tripod coins are primarily found around the site of ancient Telmessos in southwestern Asia Minor.
