MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR tetradrachm (16.92 gm). NGC Choice XF 5/5 - 4/5. Samothrace (?), ca. 172-168 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion-skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter, kerykeion (caduceus) in left field, no other symbols or letters. Price -, cf. 662-663. Evidently quite rare, this variety unrecorded. Boldly struck and lightly toned.
