Masonic Jewels, A Georgian Scottish Master's collar Jewel, depicting the compasses and square, silver, inset with paste brilliants, in centre a sun in majesty on star with G above, engraved on reverse, PRESENTED TO BRO JOSEPH DODD AS A MARK OF ESTEEM FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE PRIDE OF OLD BRUNSWICK FEMALE R.O.L. NO 11., 70 x 66mm. (cf. Harris 29, dated to c. 1790), suspension ring (with brilliants), good very fine
The Pride of Old Brunswick F.L.O.L. was established in Liverpool in 1875, at a time when female Orange Lodges were flourishing, with 'thirty good Protestant females'. This Jewel would seem to have been re-cycled for the presentation.
