China Empire Yuan Dynasty 2 Kuan 1335-40 Pick UNL S/M#C167-1. One of the earliest examples of paper money from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). The 2 Kuan denomination depicted in center box is represented by the two strings of cash coins, each comprised of 10 cash stacks. Although this example is quite large is size, it is slightly smaller than the more common 1 Kuan from the Ming Dynasty. These early notes were printed on mulberry paper and charcoal dye was used for both the the script and design. This historical example is well preserved and has retained most of its original features. The grading company mentions restorations and repairs, edge tears, and minor damage on the holder.
