Chekiang. Kuang-hsü 50 Cents ND (1898-99) MS67 NGC, Hangchow mint, KM-Y54, L&M-283, Kann-120, Hsu-166. The strike is superb, and near-flawless, as one would expect to see for a Specimen, or Pattern coin. The surfaces display a satin finish, with glistening mint luster beneath a light spray of russet patina. No significant imperfections are noted and the overall appearance is superb. This piece is the single finest certified example, with one other piece in MS65, and no other pieces above MS64. Very rare in all conditions, and exceedingly rare in this Superb grade. The finest example that we can reference was an MS65 that sold in August, 2011 for a hammer price of $70,000.
