German Colony. Wilhelm II 5 Mark 1894-A MS66 PCGS, Berlin mint, KM7, Jaeger-707. A spectacular silver-golden Gem, this largest of the German colonial issues of New Guinea comes always highly coveted, decorated as it is with a prominent and beautiful depiction of the bird of paradise. While bold flashes of luster cartwheel around the confined spaces of the peripheries, the inner details and low points of the bird's feathers emit a twinkling effect that reveals every feather in its intricacy. Meanwhile, mottled patches of russet hues playful decorate the obverse. Presently tied with one other example in this top certification according to the PCGS census, and a miraculous jewel that is sure to entice.
