GREAT BRITAIN. Pattern 2 Pounds, 1820. George III (1760-1820). PCGS Genuine--Repaired, Proof. Unc Details Secure Holder.
Fr-370; KM-Pn82; WR-179 (R3). From a mintage of only 60 pieces. Razor sharp as a presentation piece should be with numerous intentionally made marks over the flashy surfaces that were intended to smooth the appearance, a feat that was ultimately accomplished as most require a glass to see clearly. Desirable despite its shortcomings, this pattern represents the earliest attempts of the Royal Mint to feature Benedetto Pistrucci's masterpiece "St. George slaying the dragon" design without the interference of surrounding legends. As history tells us, this attempt would ultimately be deemed an incredible success, with the design not only being incorporated into several of the coinage denominations in 1821, but also eventually becoming the standard reverse design for all sovereign-denominated issues from the reign of Victoria until today. An ideal item for the historically focus numismatists as such. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, Proof. Unc Details Secure Holder.

Estimate: $5000.00- $10000.00
