GREAT BRITAIN. Twelve Piece Proof Set, 1911. PCGS PR-65 to PR-66, PCGS PL-64 to PL-65, all Secure Holders.
S-PS11; KM-PS17; Fr-402, 403, 404a, 405a. 5 Pounds (PCGS PR-65CAM), 2 Pounds (PCGS PR-65CAM), Sovereign (PCGS PR-65CAM), 1/2 Sovereign (PCGS PR-66CAM), 1/2 Crown (PCGS PR-65), Florin (PCGS PR-65), Shilling (PCGS PR-66), 6 Pence (PCGS PR-66), Maundy 4 Pence (PCGS PL-65), Maundy 3 Pence (PCGS PL-64), Maundy 2 Pence (PCGS PL-65), and Maundy 1 Pence (PCGS PL-64). The set includes a red leather case labeled "SPECIMEN COINS 1911" inscribed around a crown. Each of the silver issues exhibits an attractive iridescence that is more striking on the larger denominations, with grey smokey undertones. When placed together they form a pleasing continuity of color, and all display the bold strike and mirrored fields one would expect from such a finely graded set. The four gold issues are a perfectly matched exhibiting hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo obverse busts with nary a hint of toning. As a whole this is clearly a well cared for set that remained undisturbed for a long period of time. PCGS PL-64 (2), PL-65 (2), PROOF-65 (2), PROOF-65CAM (3), PROOF-66 (2), & PROOF-66CAM. All Secure Holders.

From the Braemore collection.

Estimate: $15000.00- $20000.00
