Australia Commonwealth of Australia £1 ND (1914) Pick 2b R20b. A brilliant example of the "Rainbow Note." These notes were issued in the same vein as the overprinted English, Scottish and Australian Bank notes, as they were hastily prepared to account for a large demand for banknotes during World War I. These notes were however quickly withdrawn as it was discovered they were too easy to counterfeit. All original colors are bright on both sides of this example. Splits are noted. The lone exampled graded by PMG for the type, and illustrated by the Dauers on page 122 of their masterfully illustrated book on Australian banknotes. PMG Very Fine 30. From the Drs. Joanne and Edward Dauer Collection of Australian Banknotes HID08701242017
