(x) Stephen (1135-54), Penny, 1.14g, Cross and Fleurs type, Northampton, Paien, + stiefne. r, crowned, diademed and draped bust facing, rev. + paien : norha :, cross pattee with central annulet, lis in each angle (Mack 67; N.896; S.1300), a minute edge crack at 1 o'clock, otherwise beautifully struck on a full flan, the legends almost entirely legible with an attractive deep tone, a magnificent coin, extremely rare in this condition.
