Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 17.25 gm, 2h). Damascus, ca. 330-320 BC. Head of young Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left on ornamental throne, holding long, vertical scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right in his right; to left, forepart of a ram springing right; two dots above and below throne support, ΛΑ in exergue. Price 3205 variant (dot placement). Sharply struck from fresh dies and well-centered. Superb Extremely Fine.
