Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR tetradrachm, (27mm, 17.18 gm, 2h). Babylon, lifetime issue ca. 326-324 BC. Head of Heracles right wearing lion-skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated on backless throne left, holding eagle on outstretched right hand and scepter in his left; uncertain symbol (sickle?) over M in left field, monogram below throne. Cf. Price 3624. NGC MS 5/5 - 5/5. The odd figure-8 shaped object in the left field does not resemble any of the objects in Martin Price's opus on Alexander's coinage. The closest would seem to be the head of the sickle shown on Price 3624.
